Filba 2022: The International Literature Festival begins

“A festival is a form of cultural activism because it thinks of literature as an event, as an aesthetic but also a political practice that goes beyond books to intervene in our lives.”, is the initial premise of FILBA 2022 . The Buenos Aires literary meeting will take place from September 28 to October 2, in the Malba Museum (Av. Pres. Figueroa Alcorta 3415), Recoleta Cultural Center (Junin 1930), Ruth Benzacar Gallery (Juan Ramirez de Velasco 1287), Eternal Cadence (Honduras 5574) and the Aristippus Bookstore (Raúl Scalabrini Ortiz 605), with free admission.

María Negroni, Claudia Piñeiro, Pedro Mairal, Beatriz Sarlo, Ariel Schettini, Leila Guerriero, Vivi Tellas, Sebastián Hacher, Cynthia Rimsky, Hinde Pomeraniec, Santiago Llach and Hernán Ronsinoamong others, are some of the dozens of writers present at the Buenos Aires International Literature Festival 2022.

In just five days, the literary festival will host the link between different readers and different authors. Interviews, dialogues, workshops, readings, poetry recitals, performances and conversations are some of the proposals to the public that will be offered in the various venues. With almost 60 free activitiesthe visitor will be able to go through different moments, such as being greeted with a glass of wine, enjoying a poetry recital at FILBA Night, buying the books you want and taking the signed copy, in addition to having open libraries and thematic talks.

Among the international writers invited to the event, the following stand out: the Chilean Diego Zunigathe Bolivian author Edmundo Paz Soldanthe British Julia Armfield, Tim Maughan Y Andrea Wulf and the american McKenzie Wark. However, the highlight is the arrival of Laura Andersonthe writer, director, visual artist, and vocalist who has created work that spans a wide spectrum in the worlds of art, theater, experimental music, and technology.

The singer’s widow Lou Reed had a start linked to music with “Or Superman” in 1981, which would be added with his participation in the soundtrack of his feature film Home of the Braves (1986) and Life on a String (2001). The creativity and versatility of the North American performer is recognized for her live shows, which range from the simple spoken word to elaborate multimedia stage performances, such as Songs and Stories for Moby Dick (1999).

Originated in 2009 with the aim of promoting literature in all its forms and to different types of readers, FILBA was present as an active encounter between writing and reading. “The power of the book as a channel of expression of the insurgent word, the one that bothers or fights, is historical: pages of thousands of books have been essential to shake consciences, promote social struggles and even, dare we say, improve the world” .
