The wind system of the harmony has been polished, the jester’s caps are ready and the beer tap is filled. Saturday is the eleventh of the eleventh, the kick-off of the carnival season. There is something to do in almost all villages or towns. We have listed a few activities for you.
There are many celebrations in our province. Whether you like a small party or a packed room full of people, there is something to do for everyone. So get dressed and party.
Den Bosch:
- Den Bosch expects 80,000 visitors in the city center. The Parade fills up around eleven o’clock in the morning with Oeteldonkers. The bells of St. John’s Church ring, the national anthem is played by trumpeters. After the official kick-off, the city center turns red, white and yellow.
Breda:
- On Saturday, November 11, no fewer than four squares in Breda will be buzzing with festivities from 1:11 PM to 11:11 PM, says the Kielegat Foundation. Acts such as Gullie, Gebroeders Rossig and Parsley will perform. The name of the new highness will be announced at 4.11 pm.
Tilburg:
- Tilburg residents can sleep in because the official party doesn’t start here until 4:30 PM. Mop orchestra Bar Gebeure plays the first notes of the carnival season on the Heuvel. Around eight o’clock the names of the prince, the council of eleven and the bodyguard are announced. The entire square turns green-orange during a program that lasts until 11:11 p.m., after which the catering industry takes over.
Eindhoven:
- The very first edition of Veurgloeren is being organized in Eindhoven with performances by major carnival artists such as Jan Biggel and Wilbert Pigmans. The party is sold out, but also in the center is plenty to do with outdoor and indoor stages.
Volkel:
- Are you a bit more serious? You can do this in the carnival museum in Volkel which opens on Saturday. Here you can look back on 58 years of carnival.
Gemert:
- CV de Laotbloemers organizes a talent afternoon in Gemert for people with intellectual disabilities. Hereby they show what they have to offer in terms of creativity.
Roosendaal:
- The carnival season is traditional in Roosendaal kicked off with the Tullepetaone breakfast starting at 11.11 am. Tickets are sold out. At 7.33 pm they will ‘wake up’ on the Market de Tullepetaon.
Chaam:
- Hofkapel De Schuimkoppe from Chaam has been around for 44 years and that is celebrated. At two o’clock a procession leaves from Het Chaamse Wapen towards the Market Square. Anyone who has ever played along is welcome to take out their instrument again and play in a large orchestra.
Dongen:
- The De Peeesstekers Foundation from Dongen kicks off the 66-year carnival season with a real one PeeFestival. Several artists and chapels perform and at 11.11 am it is revealed who the new prince(s), adjutant and court are.
Bergen op Zoom
- In Krabbegat there is the traditional ‘ellef ellef’ on Saturday evening at ‘de Geit van Mie d’n Os on the Bleekveldje. Bergen op Zoom has a real one countdown clock towards the kick-off of the ‘Lenten season’.
