The German couple Letizia Roscher and Luis Schuster has at Grand Prix won the bronze medal in pair skating in Sheffield.
The couple from Chemnitz made neither a fall nor any major mistakes during their freestyle. Even the short program on Friday was successful with a personal best of over 60 points and brought the couple to third place.
“Today we liked it better than at our first Grand Prix in the USA”, said the only 21-year-old shoemaker. Together with his partner, who is three years his junior, he has “Worked on the throws and the difficulty of some elements. This time we had less pressure.”
Biggest career success
The fifth at the Junior World Championships were in on their Grand Prix debut Norwood/USA finished seventh in October. So now the biggest career success so far: “We learned a lot from Skate America, we gained a lot of experience“Roscher said. “We had a lot of motivation for training to get better – to make the elements cleaner.”
Victory goes to American couple
The duo is trained in Chemnitz by former world-class pair skaters Ingo Steuer and Robin Szolkowy. At the European Championships in Tallinn earlier this year, Roscher/Schuster finished 19th.
They got the win in Sheffield Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier from the USA, silver went to Sara Conti and Niccolo Macii (Italy).
Good sixth place for Nicole Schott
The German performance in the women’s category was also pleasing: the six-time German champion and resident of Oberstdorf, Nicole Schott, finished sixth on Sunday with a total of 181.41 points. The Japanese Mai Mihara (217.43 points) came in first ahead of Isabeau Levito (USA/215.74) and Anastasia Gubanova (Georgia/193.11)
