Figure fighter Lindsay van Zundert 17th at World Cup

Figure fighter Lindsay van Zundert from Zundert finished seventeenth at the World Championships in Montpellier. After the free freestyle on Friday, 17-year-old Van Zundert achieved a total score of 171.39 and rose another place compared to the short freestyle.

The title went to Kaori Sakamoto. The Japanese figure skater who had won bronze behind two Russians at the Beijing Games, took gold ahead of Belgium’s Loena Hendrickx and American Alysa Liu. Van Zundert had secured his participation in the free freestyle with an eighteenth place in the short freestyle.

The figure skater from Etten-Leur had reached a score of 58.49 points last Wednesday, slightly lower than her score at the Games in China. With 112.90 she also remained slightly below her score of 116.57 from Beijing, where she finished eighteenth. She still rose one place, at the expense of the Swiss Alexia Paganini.
