The leader of the French competition was a size too big in Galgenwaard: 0-1. The American Tanner Tessmann took care of the winning goal in an at times an exciting football fight with a great bang in the 75th minute.

Between nose and lips, captain Nick Viergever said that the battle plan against Olympique Lyon was tailored to the enthusiasm of the supporters. Nothing had been lied to that. Trainer Ron Jans had his pit bulls rushed the French as they have never experienced.

Energetic Start FC Utrecht

The overwhelming tactics earned an opening goal. But with art and flying work, Lyon remained up with a leader and ex-Ajacied Nicolas Tagliafico in a shot by Miguel Rodriguez, a corner that Viergever went wrong by Mike van der Hoorn, who hit a meter of the goal line while the leader Dominik Gras Lund missed for a centimeter.

Remarkably, the French team persisted in the structure of backwards with the idea that the Utrecht Pitbulls would get out of breath. It became less after a teasing of Lyon in the tenth minute and finally the offensive ebbed away.

Olympique Lyon had survived the attack and got better and better in the game. But having control does not mean the same as getting opportunities. Especially since FC Utrecht also defensively bite in the although skilled, but also light -hearted French attackers.

Yellow for Ron Jans and Paulo Fonseca

The Boel in Galgenwaard therefore remained in balance until the break because a mistake by Ruben Kluivert was not punished by FC Utrecht. Only an upset between Jans and his colleague Paulo Fonseca, the minds are briefly. After some throwing back and forth, the Romanian arbitrator Horatiu Fesnic sent the two keffertjes with a yellow card back to their dug-out.

Sébastien Haller

The second company did not start as furious as the first, FC Utrecht was the first to sniff a lead against the leader of Lique 1. Sébastien Haller saw his effort just disappearing next to the goal. Because of his physical, the Ivorian striker was preferred to David Min. Yet he had little to say against the strong and tree -long central defense duo of Olympique Lyon with Moussa Niakhaté and Clinton Mata.

After 65 minutes and four switches on the French side, the Utrecht people hardly managed to get rid of their own half anymore. Jans reported to the sidelines. For the time being without points while his pit bulls started to breathe more and more.

Utrecht Pitbulls laid on the chain

The trainer who will be officially AOW member on Monday if he can blow out 67 candles, waited too long with fresh legs. In the 75th minute, FC Utrecht dropped through its legs and after the Tessmann’s goal was dependent on the chase.

With Min, an extra striker was added for a real final offensive. Five minutes before time he managed to lay the ball ready for Gjivai Zechiel. The Feyenoord-Renting was overlooked. When Haller ruined a last big chance, the French put the Utrecht Pitbulls finally on the chain.
