Until the break Ajax did not succeed in making it difficult for the Rotterdam team. Feyenoord was stronger in the duels and in many cases trumped the home team in football and physically. After the break, Davy Klaassen came in for Edson Álvarez, but Feyenoord was also the better team in the early stages of the second half. Only after fifteen minutes of play did Ajax seem to push through the effort of Jurriën Timber, who landed on the crossbar. Fifteen minutes before the end, Ajax had the perfect opportunity to equalize through substitute Brian Brobbey. The win keeps Ajax at the top of the Eredivisie. The team from Amsterdam now has 66 points from 27 games. In two weeks, the reigning national champion will play against FC Groningen.
