Ajax had a hard time with Feyenoord in an exciting Classic. The team from Rotterdam went into halftime with a deserved lead, but the leader in the Eredivisie put things in order in the last fifteen minutes. Antony became the match winner by scoring the 3-2 in the 86th minute.
Ajax wanted the bitter aftertaste of the elimination in the Champions League wash away. Last Tuesday Benfica won 1-0 and continued at the expense of the team from Amsterdam. However, the team of coach Erik ten Hag did not make a grim impression in the opening phase, because Feyenoord took the lead after eight minutes. In the switch, it was open at the back at Ajax, after which Luis Sinisterra hit the mark after keeper Andre Onana saved the first bet by Cyriel Dessers: 0-1.

It took a long time for the team from Amsterdam to get a grip on a fierce and easy footballing Feyenoord. Only after eighteen minutes did Steven Berghuis get the first chance with a flaming shot straight into the hands of the keeper. Then Ajax seemed to get into the match better and in the 24th minute Sébastien Haller equalized. The striker hit the rebound from a flaming shot by Ryan Gravenberch: 1-1. Four minutes later, Ajax was already behind the times, because in the back Berghuis had to mess around quite a bit, which Guus Til took advantage of and scored: 1-2.

Until the break Ajax did not succeed in making it difficult for the Rotterdam team. Feyenoord was stronger in the duels and in many cases trumped the home team in football and physically. After the break, Davy Klaassen came in for Edson Álvarez, but Feyenoord was also the better team in the early stages of the second half. Only after fifteen minutes of play did Ajax seem to push through the effort of Jurriën Timber, who landed on the crossbar. Fifteen minutes before the end, Ajax had the perfect opportunity to equalize through substitute Brian Brobbey. Feyenoord keeper Marciano completely missed a cross, but Brobbey headed the ball meters wide.

Ajax insisted emphatically in the last fifteen minutes and Feyenoord couldn’t get out. The fatigue seemed to be in the legs of the Rotterdammers. Yet Ajax got the equalizer thanks to a miss by goalkeeper Marciano. Dusan Tadic laid a free kick in the far top corner after the keeper completely misjudged the ball: 2-2.
The fire with which Feyenoord fought for a long time, more and more flowed from the team. As a result, the initiative in the final phase lay entirely with Ajax. The continued pressure led to Ajax taking the lead in the 86th minute. The risen Nico Tagliafico put the ball ready for Antony who pushed the ball into the short corner: 3-2. In the last minute Antony received his second yellow card of the game for foul play.
