Fifth premier class title – Hamann: Kroos record “never again will a German make it”

Munich (AP) – According to ex-national player Dietmar Hamann, Toni Kroos is “one of the greatest in German football”.

In his column for the Sky TV channel, Hamann wrote: “If I take the absolute elite of German football, and then we’re with Beckenbauer, Seeler and Matthäus, Toni comes right behind for me.” Kroos celebrated his fifth Champions League title with Real Madrid. “No German will ever do that again,” said Hamann.

After the 1-0 win in the final against Jürgen Klopp’s FC Liverpool, Kroos caused a stir when he broke off a ZDF interview because he didn’t like the questions about Real’s performance. “You don’t like to see something like that, but I have a bit of understanding for the player,” wrote Hamann. There was nothing wrong with the Royal performance.

The 32-year-old Kroos was asked, among other things, whether it was surprising that Real had come under so much pressure in the final. “You had 90 minutes to think about sensible questions and then you ask me two shitty questions,” replied the ex-world champion and broke off the interview shortly afterwards.
