Fifteen years in prison demanded against Manodj B. for dead missing Sumanta Bansi: “You are a monster”

The Public Prosecution Service has demanded 15 years in prison against Manodj B. (42) for killing Sumanta Bansi. The 22-year-old woman, who was pregnant with him at the time, has been missing for more than four years. According to the public prosecutor, B. stabbed her to death and then made the body disappear. As a result, there is homicide.

His father, 65-year-old Dwarka B., was eventually asked for acquittal by the public prosecutor.

The judiciary relies, among other things, on tapped conversations. For example, Manodj B. said in a telephone conversation with his brother: “I went straight through her heart with that thing, dead, done.”

Sumanta disappeared without a trace on February 18, 2018. At that time she was pregnant again by Manodj B. She lived with him and his family in Hoorn and had a secret relationship together. In a previous pregnancy, she had been pressured to have an abortion, but this time she wanted to keep the child.

Despite many searches in the Robbenoordbos near Wieringerwerf and the recreation area De Hulk in Scharwoude, Sumanta’s body was not found. Much to her family’s chagrin.

Where is Sumanta?

Her parents came over from Suriname to attend the case. They mainly hoped that it would become clear where Sumanta’s body is to be found. “Be a man and at least tell us where to find her. We can’t even say goodbye to her,” lawyer Priya Soekhai said on behalf of father Marlon Bansi during last week’s victim statement. But even today there was no answer to that question.

Suspect denies

Manodj himself denies any involvement – just like father Dwarka B. – but the Public Prosecution Service says it has sufficient evidence. The lawyers for both suspects are now allowed to present their defense. Earlier, lawyer Theo Hiddema already said about his client Dwarka B. that there was no evidence. “This case is as dead as a doornail,” he said at the time.

The court will rule on July 5.
