Soccer world champions Argentina have taken the lead in the FIFA world rankings. The team led by captain Lionel Messi thus overtakes France, second in the World Cup, and Brazil, which was ranked first, as can be seen from the ranking.
The Argentines were last at the top of the rankings in 2017. After Qatar’s World Cup triumph, Messi and Co. were third in December. Argentina recently won games against Panama (2-0) and Curaçao (7-0). Completing the top five are Belgium and England, who defended their places.
The German national team, headed by national coach Hansi Flick, remains in 14th place after the recent games against Peru (2-0) and Belgium (2-3). team to play no more competitive games.
