FIFA rejects KNVB request, transfer deadline remains August 31 Football

Football association KNVB recently asked the global federation FIFA whether the deadline in the Netherlands can be moved by one day, so that it is in line with other countries in Europe. However, according to a spokeswoman for the KNVB, FIFA rejected that request, because the regulations state that the deadline cannot be adjusted while the transfer market is open.

Dutch football clubs can buy players until 31 August. In countries such as Germany, England, Spain, Italy and France, the deadline ends at midnight on September 1. That means that Dutch teams can no longer get a replacement on that day if they still sell players. Usually on the last day of the transfer market, there is still a lot of trade in Europe.

The KNVB informed the clubs on Monday that the deadline will remain unchanged.
