FIFA produces guide to women’s club licensing

The world football association FIFA has created and published a guide for club licensing for women for the first time. This was announced by FIFA on Friday. This is intended to further advance “the professionalization and development of women’s football at club level”.

“The development of strong and sustainable leagues, in which players play in a professional competitive environment, is a key area for the future development and professionalisation of women’s football,” said senior FIFA officer Sarai Bareman.

Aimed at all 211 member associations of FIFA, the publication provides a ten-step guide for associations to follow when setting up a club licensing system. A further eight steps should enable the leagues to maintain the corresponding structures on a seasonal basis.
