FIFA moves Ukraine play-off match against Scotland to June | Foreign football

The play-off match between Scotland and Ukraine to participate in the World Cup will be moved from March to June. FIFA decided that because of the war in Ukraine.

Scotland and Ukraine meet in the semifinals. The other semi-final on that side of the schedule (path A) is between Wales and Austria. That match is in March. The final between the winner of Scotland and Ukraine and the winner of Wales and Austria is also in June.

Poland would face Russia in the semifinal (path B). Because the Russians have been banned from further participation by FIFA, Poland is now automatically in the final battle. In it they will compete against Sweden or the Czech Republic.

The two semifinals in path C will be between Italy and North Macedonia and between Portugal and Turkey. The three winners of the three qualifying routes qualify for the World Cup, which starts in Qatar in mid-November.
