World Cup qualifier South America
The World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina, which was canceled a good six months ago after a corona scandal, will be made up for. This was announced by the World Football Association on Monday. Accordingly, FIFA determines where and when the duel between the arch-rivals will be repeated. The game was initially interrupted and then stopped after a few minutes on September 5, 2021 in São Paulo.

At that time, officials from the Anvisa health authority had entered the field to take three Argentinian players off for alleged violations of corona regulations. As a result, FIFA initiated disciplinary proceedings against both national associations.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee concluded that the game was abandoned as a result of various breaches of duty and/or duty by the parties involved. They also imposed fines for this. The Brazilian football association has to pay a total of 550,000 Swiss francs (around 524,000 euros) and the Argentine federation a total of 250,000 Swiss francs (around 238,000 euros).
Argentina internationals Emiliano Buendía, Emiliano Martínez, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero have each been suspended for two games. Brazil and Argentina have already qualified for the World Cup in Qatar from November 21st to December 18th.
