The transfer windows in Germany will end one day later than usual in the 2023/24 season. After last summer’s deadline day for the first time did not take place on August 31st, but on September 1st, the clubs in the Bundesliga, 2nd league and 3rd league will have 24 hours more in the coming season. In addition, the end of the winter transfer phase will also be postponed from January 31st to February 1st. FIFA has confirmed that.
Normally, the last transfer day was only postponed if the deadline day fell on a weekend. In the next season, however, the days would have been in the middle of the week. In addition to Germany, two other top leagues, England and Spain, have each postponed their deadline days by 24 hours. So far, France has only extended the summer transfer phase by one day, according to FIFA, Italy has not yet moved at all. However, this should still happen in the next few weeks in order not to have a disadvantage in international comparison.

This mishap happened to the Netherlands last summer when the KNVB association was not up to speed when it came to the transfer window – August 31 and January 31 are still stored with FIFA for the next season. Other countries sometimes have even longer transfer periods: In Turkey, player additions are possible in the summer up to around September 8th, in Portugal even up to September 22nd.
