FIFA 23, the Career mode puts you in the shoes of Conte and Guardiola

How does the mode most loved by long-time players, the dear, old Career, change with the arrival of FIFA 23? Here is a taste of the news.

Career mode is still the beating heart of the experience FIFA 23 for gamers of a certain age, and this EA Sports knows it well. FUT finances the game (and, to a large extent, the company) year on year, but this is where users who have supported the series from the start find themselves spending most of their hours, taking to the pitch to fund the game. fantasy of being president and at the same time manager of your favorite team.

It is a bit of the same instinct that fuels the months spent on Football Manager, with that extra bit of player agency dictated by the possibility of taking the field and personally solving the most intricate situations, or maybe just doing it to try the new jewel purchased. with an accountant’s hat on his head to make ends meet.

The Player Career –

In a presentation reserved for the press, producer Alex Constantinescu of EA Romania told us how the Career mode will change for the release of FIFA 23, introducing some variations on the theme both in the way in which you can play once you set foot on the green mantle , both behind the scenes of the most important clubs in the world. A presentation that was, to be honest, quite short, since the changes made to the FIFA 23 career – although we were armed with good hopes, perhaps somewhat unrealistic, if you think that this will be the last year of the marriage between Electronic Arts and FIFA – they seem smaller than ever.

It starts with the Player Career, in which you play the role of a footballer and make your way into the world of football. Three new personalities have been introduced this year: Maverick, Virtuoso, Heartbeat. Maverick is the somewhat selfish player, classic character who collects all the opportunities on and off the pitch to be successful; Virtuoso is the one devoted to training, constantly focused on improving his performance; Heartbeat is the engine of the team, one who wants to represent their company as a model to follow.

On and off the pitch –

Having said that hybridizations will inevitably form between the three personalities, how one behaves on the field determines how many points are allocated to each of them: pulling contributes to the Maverick branch, with an impact on characteristics such as finalization and speed, while passing mainly affects the Heartbeat. Off-pitch activities have also been introduced, which include the ability to throw a birthday party, visit an injured mate, or make a pickup gift for another, and for the first time you will have it available. a salary with which to go shopping once the shirt is off. These could be used for activities aimed at further increasing one’s wealth, as in a sort of life sim, with the opportunity to make investments with a variable degree of risk (a mobile app, for example) or hire a personal trainer to gain +1 Strength, + 25% XP gained in training and Virtuoso points.

New Highlights on FIFA 23 –

Both the player and manager careers (and, in addition, the tournaments) will include the inclusion of playable highlights. The idea is to provide a tool that bridges the gap between a full game and the simulation, in addition to the minute-by-minute Football Manager-style simulation of some editions ago, and reduce fatigue dictated by the very long in-game football seasons.

The number of highlights will be dynamic, guided by the quality of the attack of both teams: if the opposing team has a very strong attack, more defensive scenes will have to be played; vice versa, if it is weaker, the number of playable goal chances will be in your favor. Similarly to what happens with a montage of replays at the end of the game, the game will move from one scene to another very quickly and smoothly. And, in case you don’t like spending time defending, you can also choose only the attack sequences, while in the Player Career you can decide to play only the scenes that concern your player.

A hub for transfers –

As for the Manager Career, players will notice the presence of new footage for situations such as the debut or key transfers in and out, while in terms of the menus, a design has been chosen that is aligned with that of FIFA Ultimate Team and Volta. The main menu has been designed to give you instant access to the most important information, such as expiring contracts and the most interesting prospectuses from the youth sector. Managers can count on a new transfer analystwhich will help to understand if a player could represent a good buy or not (on a ranking from A to F), based on his characteristics and how these relate to those of the team and players already in the squad to determine what impact could have on the club’s fortunes.

Like Klopp and Gerrard –

In a not too rich scenario, the most fascinating novelty concerns the chance to wear the jacket or tracksuit of some of the main coaches on the global scene and guide the evolution of their career: instead of creating a coach from scratch, you can play in the shoes of the best in the world, with Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola, Antonio Conte, Thomas Tuchel, Steven Gerrard and Patrick Vieira among the few already confirmed of the more than 350 available (30 of which with real features), and choose from time to time which teams should captain regardless of those in which they currently play.

Few details have been provided on this for the moment, but it is already known that – just like with coaches created from scratch – it will be possible customize the appearance of these managers, for example by changing Klopp glasses or putting a hat on Guardiola’s head. It is plausible to imagine a few more shots in the field for them in this specific mode, and maybe a variety of additional commentary lines in the commentary to better outline their deeds., But for now we will have to settle for the information filtered by EA Sports so far.

FIFA 23 coming in September –

In the coming weeks, the developer will add more details on both the game in a broader sense, and on the Career mode itself – a pre-season restructuring has been hinted at, with tournaments closer to the start of the championship, and the possibility of choosing. the uniforms of the goalkeepers and the third jersey, in case you want to create your own club from scratch. For now, referring you to the next appointments that will soon reveal everything about FUT, graphic presentation, Pro Club and Volta, we remind you that FIFA 23 is out for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on September 30, and that you can have it with three days in advance by pre-ordering a copy of the Ultimate Edition.
