FIFA 23, the announcement infuriates players: “we ask for an explanation”

Cross-play debuts in FIFA 23 but keeps non-1v1 modes out, and Pro Club fans haven’t taken it well at all. And, meanwhile, on Switch …

FIFA 23 it was announced only yesterday but did not fail to upset someone due to some details contained in the presentation of the game. As reported in the EA Sports press release, the game will include cross-play for the first time, meaning the ability to play online against friends regardless of platform. Several caveats, however, with which cross-play will be enabled for the first time in the thirty-year series of Electronic Arts, and one of these has made fans turn up their noses.

Open letter “against” FIFA 23 –

FIFA 23 will include cross-play, admittedly, but this will only be available for 1v1 modes, and that will keep out one of the lesser-known but perhaps the most dedicated follow-up modes, namely Pro Club. In Pro Club, players in field can reach up to 22, eleven per team, with each user managing a single player on the green mantle. There has been great disappointment in the community of fans of this mode, which now “asks for an explanation” on the choice to keep it out of cross-play. With the hashtag #SaveProClubs, the open letter from the VFL Twitter account explains that he understands why there is a greater focus on FUT every year – it is the “that makes money” mode – but “it is not acceptable” that “for another year, our mode that we play and love has been ignored again ”. The request, therefore, is that EA Sports take a position in this regard and publicly provide its plans regarding cross-play on Pro Club, provided that there are some in close proximity.

The Legacy Edition for Switch –

Another detail that has not escaped the most attentive is that on Nintendo Switch, also this year, the game will be brought in a special FIFA 23 Legacy Edition – substantially different from what we have been able to try in the past few hours. This version will not include “significant improvements” but will only update squads and kits, adding the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and France D1 Arkema, along with some stadiums including Manchester City Academy Stadium. By football fans, considering that this is the only simulation on the platform (eFootball has not yet arrived there), this package of changes is not considered sufficient, especially because the base game is almost the same since the first chapter of the series on Switch.
