A shed behind a house on Wijkstraat in New Amsterdam was destroyed by fire this night.
The fire was discovered by passers-by just after 3:30 a.m. They alerted the fire brigade.
Due to the fierce fire, the barn could no longer be saved. By the time firefighters arrived, the barn was already engulfed in flames. One of the residents of the house is said to have been examined by paramedics, but did not have to go to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
