Thanks to its expansion course, the Fielmann optics group significantly increased its sales and profits last year. Group sales increased by 17 percent to almost 1.7 billion euros, as the company announced on Thursday in Hamburg based on preliminary figures. According to the information, the international markets grew at an above-average rate. Before taxes, Fielmann expects profits to increase by around a fifth to around EUR 210 million. The company thus achieved its previously announced targets.

After taxes, Fielmann also earned around 20 percent more at around 145 million euros. According to Fielmann, the development was dampened, among other things, by considerable investments. Most of the new branches would have opened in the third and fourth quarters of 2021.

Fielmann also wrote off EUR 15 million on its software products. The shareholders are to receive a 25 percent higher dividend of EUR 1.50 per share. Fielmann confirmed the forecast for the current year: The company continues to expect a double-digit growth rate in sales. In addition, at least one new market is to be opened up. (dpa)
