Fidan Ekiz does not want to pronounce Erik Dijkstra’s name in Op1: ‘Amber and…’

Fidan Ekiz seems to harbor some feelings of resentment against her colleague at Op1 after Erik Dijkstra’s ugly words. She even refused to pronounce his name on the Thursday show…

It is quite jerky behavior from Erik Dijkstra: he has criticized his direct Op1 colleague Fidan Ekiz in a nasty way in the fellow talk show Jinek. He is annoyed by the documentary she has made about the cancel culture and her own experiences with it. And in particular her experience with Erik’s employer BNNVARA.

Howling Fidan

That broadcaster removed Fidan’s talk show from the tube two years ago and she says that is because of her right-wing ideas, but Erik does not want to know anything about cancelling: “What is it? Two or three years later? To whine about that… Get over ityou know.”

The opinion that Fidan should stop talking about the Eve thing is shared by more people, but to convey that as a direct Op1 colleague in such a nasty way is of course unnecessary. It is also not good for the atmosphere in the workplace.

‘With Amber and…’

When Fidan announces Op1 on Thursday evening, she refuses to pronounce Erik’s name: “This was Op1 for tonight and tomorrow, Amber and…” will be sitting here on behalf of BNNVARA.

She starts to smile, after which Sven Kockelmann finishes it: “Erik.”

And there he was indeed one evening later. Although Erik is no longer a permanent presenter of Op1, this time he was seen as a substitute for Natasja Gibbs.

Columnist Jan Dijkgraaf thinks Erik is an incredible slime dress, he says in the podcast Nasty Boys. What, according to him, he actually said at Jinek’s talk show table? “I can’t say what I really think about it. I lick up at the boss. I want to extend my contract. I want to stay here at BNNVARA until I retire.”

Co-host Bas Paternotte points out that Erik himself was worth canceling once when he still worked for DWDD. “He was interviewing a pop musician on a roof somewhere in Amsterdam or something and then they were drinking beers and then a tour boat passed by and there were all disabled people on it, including a woman in a wheelchair.”

Beer bottle

And then? Bas: “He then threw that bottle of beer down. And he almost hit that disabled woman from De Zonnebloem, which organizes outings for the disabled. Well, that is not so neat and life-threatening.”

Jan: “Attempted manslaughter.”

Bas: “In the end he apologized for that. But it is a bit typical of this Erik Dijkstra that you get it into your head anyway to throw bottles of beer.”
