Fidan Ekiz and Wierd Duk, who have a son together, decided in 2017 to end their marriage. Last spring, however, they rekindled their relationship. The bickering between the two continues. They already clashed with each other on television in May and yesterday it was that time again.

Reverse Flags

Lovebirds Fidan and Wierd sat at Leonie ter Braak’s talk show table in HLF8. There, their opinion was asked about provinces that remove upside-down protest flags from farmers for road safety reasons. Fidan thinks that’s good, but Wierd is more critical: “I don’t think anything has happened with those flags so far, right?”

Wierd simply prefers to see those flags hang. “If the government were to take away the reason why people put those flags up, I would agree. The farmers hang up the flags as a protest, so I would say: take the protest seriously, then those farmers will remove the flags.”

Fidan seeks confrontation

Fidan then seeks a confrontation with her lover on live television. Dead serious: “But nobody says they can’t protest? This is about road safety. Then you can hang those flags somewhere else, right?”

Wierd: “Road safety is of course an alibi. If you’re going to say, ‘We’re taking those flags down, because we don’t agree with it as a government’, then you’ve got all the puppets dancing.”

Fidan annoyed: “Oh, you think they give that as a reason, but there’s something else behind it?”

‘Of course that’s true!’

Wierd firmly: “Of course there is another reason behind it.”

Fidan even more irritated: “How do you know that?”

Then Wierd abruptly cuts off his beloved. “Well, now we’ve been talking about this all night. We also have other themes, so ehh…”

Fidan: “Well, facts…”

Hostess Leonie uncomfortable: “The tone is set.”

‘See!’

Then Leonie shows the results of a poll that was held among viewers. Only 39 percent of those polled are in favor of the flags being removed.

Wierd then seriously proves himself right with Fidan: “Yes, exactly, see?”
