‘Feyenoord targets FC Volendam defender Derry John Murkin’

According to the generally well-established1908.nl Feyenoord is working on making FC Volendam defender Derry John Murkin. The left-back is said to be the successor to Tyrell Malacia, who left for Manchester United.

The name of Murkin partly comes from the tube of Sipke Hulshoff, the assistant coach of Feyenoord. Hulshoff was previously Wim Jonk’s assistant for two years between 2019 and 2021.

Derry John Murkin is still under contract in Volendam until mid-2023. In addition, there is an option for an extra season. Last promotion year, the British-born footballer only played four games due to a foot injury. Murkin has played his entire professional career at FC Volendam. He came over from the youth of Fortuna Wormerveer in 2015.

Tight selection

Whether Volendam wants to let Murkin go remains to be seen. Last Saturday, trainer Wim Jonk announced that he had already made the selection of his team “to tight” found. FC Volendam leaves for Greece tomorrow to play an exhibition game there against Panathinaikos. Originally, ADO Den Haag would be played on Friday, but the club has canceled that game and prefers a trip to Greece.
