Feyenoord must play against Osasuna in an empty Kuip

Feyenoord has to play the last practice match in preparation for the new season in an empty Kuip. The municipality of Rotterdam has not given permission to admit the public to next Sunday’s game with Osasuna. According to a spokesperson for the municipality, Feyenoord’s license application has been rejected; the reason for this is unclear.

“Feyenoord regrets the decision of the municipality. The club is very sorry that its supporters cannot attend the international meeting with a great opponent such as La Liga club Osasuna live,” the Conference League finalist reports on the website. The practice match in the empty Kuip starts at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on TV channel ESPN.

The team of trainer Arne Slot will practice on Wednesday afternoon (kick-off 1 p.m.) at the Varkenoord training complex against NAC Breda. Spectators are welcome, up to three thousand. Feyenoord lost 2-0 to Olympique Lyon, the French team of trainer Peter Bosz, on Sunday in De Kuip. At that time, more than 20,000 supporters were in the stands of the stadium.
