Timber is happy with his return to South Rotterdam. “It feels familiar to be back here. When I drove to De Kuip, it felt like coming home. Feyenoord did its best to get me back and I’m happy about that. To be able to stand here again eight years after I left, in this stadium where the supporters transfer their energy to the team, is fantastic. I’m fit and I’m looking forward to training right away tomorrow,” Timber said on the Feyenoord site.
The club from Rotterdam is groping quite a bit of money to attract Timber, who will play with jersey number 27. The transfer fee is said to be 8.5 million euros, a transfer record for Feyenoord and a great hit for FC Utrecht. In fact, Timber is the most expensive incoming transfer ever from Feyenoord in one fell swoop. The purchases of Marcos Senesi and Danko Lazovic (both 7 million euros) have been narrowly surpassed. At FC Utrecht, Timber only has to tolerate Sébastien Haller. Earlier this summer, Feyenoord already recorded a record amount in outgoing transfers with the sale of Luis Sinisterra to Leeds United for 25 million euros plus another 5 million in very feasible bonuses.
Santiago Gimenez
While the ink on Timber’s contract is barely dry, Feyenoord is already preparing for the next incoming transfer. Striker Santiago Gimenez, taken over from Cruz Azul from Mexico, landed in the Netherlands on Wednesday afternoon. The attacker is looking forward to his time in the Netherlands: “The Eredivisie has known many good Mexican players, and I want to be part of the greatness of Feyenoord.”
