Khalid Benlahsen leaves Feyenoord after ten years. The goalkeeper coach leaves for the KNVB. Benlahsen will become the goalkeeper coach of the Dutch Juniors in Zeist, where Michael Reiziger will succeed Erwin van de Looi as national coach after the upcoming European Championship.
“In recent years, good steps have been taken at the KNVB to professionalize the guidance of keepers and coaches. I see it as a great task to further develop that”, says Benlahsen, who will also be coordinator of the goalkeeper trainers of other youth teams at the KNVB.
Nigel de Jong, director of top football at the football association, is happy with the arrival of former goalkeeper Benlahsen. “He has an excellent reputation in the football world and I think he is one of the best goalkeeper coaches in our country,” says the former international.
The 49-year-old Benlahsen, who himself played for FC Eindhoven, Helmond Sport and RBC Roosendaal, among others, signs a four-year contract with the KNVB.
It is not yet clear who will be Feyenoord’s new goalkeeper coach.
