Feyenoord is certain of participating in the group stage of the Europa League for next season. The team from Rotterdam benefited on Friday from AS Roma’s 0-3 win at Torino, which guarantees the Romans a place in the top six in the Serie A and a ticket for the group stage of the Europa League.
Feyenoord will play against AS Roma in the final of the Conference League next Wednesday. If coach Arne Slot’s team wins the tournament, it would also grab a ticket for the group stage of the Europa League.
Now Feyenoord is already doing that before. Roma can get two tickets for the group stage of the Europa League by winning the Conference League final in addition to the place in the top six of the Serie A. In that case, one ticket on the coefficient ranking moves to the country that does not deliver a direct team in the group stage, and that is the Netherlands.
Only with a victory in the last round would Roma be sure of a place in the top six in Serie A. Coach José Mourinho’s team was already 0-2 at Torino halfway through thanks to two goals from Tammy Abraham, one of which was from a penalty.
Lorenzo Pellegrini secured the three points for Roma twelve minutes before the end, where Rick Karsdorp came in after an hour of play. With the victory, the Romans are now fifth and can no longer be overtaken by number seven Fiorentina.
Feyenoord and AS Roma will face each other in the Conference League final next Wednesday in Tirana. The kick-off will be at 9 p.m.
The AS Roma players thank the supporters who traveled with them in Turin.
