Feyenoord booked a big win at NAC Breda on Wednesday in preparation for the new season. The exhibition game in Rotterdam ended in 6-1.
The team of trainer Arne Slot thus put an end to a series of poor results in the practice campaign. FC Copenhagen (0-7), Union Sint-Gillis (0-4) and Olympique Lyonnais (0-2) lost. There was only a victory over Red Bull Salzburg (2-1).
Feyenoord took the lead halfway through the first half thanks to a nice curl from Patrik Walemark in the far corner. An own goal by Stef de Wijs and a goal by Alireza Jahanbakhsh made it 3-0 halfway through.
That score rose even further in the second half by youngsters Cole Bassett (20), Lennard Hartjes (19) and Mohamed Taabouni (20) who had come over from AZ. Sabir Agougil saved the honor just before time for the NAC that played in the Kitchen Champion Division.
Sebastian Szymanski made his unofficial debut at Feyenoord. The Polish attacking midfielder came on a rental basis from Dynamo Moscow last week. Oussama Idrissi, who is hired from Sevilla, was not there yet.
Feyenoord will close the practice campaign on Sunday in De Kuip against Osasuna, although no audience is allowed to be present at that game. On Sunday, August 7, the number three of last season opens the competition with an away match against Vitesse.
