Fewer SC Heerenveen fans welcome at the match against AZ

The incident in which some ‘supporters’ of SC Heerenveen threw fireworks on the field in the away match against AZ last season is not without consequences. The away section in Alkmaar remains half empty this season.

The previous edition, on April 1 this year, was marred in the opening phase by some ‘supporters’ of SC Heerenveen who threw fireworks on the field. The club removed several perpetrators from the away section during the match and later identified more people involved.

Station ban

Heerenveen reports that a total of 14 people were involved in the incident, 4 of whom actually threw fireworks on the field. Six have received a stadium ban from the KNVB, ranging from 18 to 72 months. Furthermore, fines of 250 euros (underage perpetrators) and 450 euros (adults) have been imposed. Finally, the four fireworks throwers were held liable for the damage to the AZ field. These costs amounted to more than 12 thousand euros.

375 supporters

It now also appears that the next match between AZ and Heerenveen, which will be played on October 21, the away section in Alkmaar must remain half empty. Heerenveen can therefore take a maximum of 375 supporters to North Holland. If no incidents occur during this match, a full away section will be possible again next season. However, in the event of new unrest, Heerenveen will not be allowed to bring any supporters with it next season.
