Fewer new corona cases reported to RIVM again Inland

The seven-day average has also fallen again. In the past seven days, an average of 58,350 new corona cases per day were reported to RIVM. It is the sixth day in a row that the weekly average has declined.

In Amsterdam 1954 people were told they had corona last 24 hours. In The Hague (1279), Utrecht (1258), Groningen (1252) and Rotterdam (1245), about the same number of people received a positive test result in the past 24 hours. No municipality remained free of new corona cases.

RIVM reports 16 new deaths from corona on Friday. That does not mean that all these people have died in the past 24 hours, because sometimes it takes a while before a death from corona is passed on to the institute.

Hospitals

The number of patients in hospital with corona fell by 4 on Friday compared to the day before, according to the most recent figures from the National Coordination Center for Patients Distribution (LCPS). In total, there are now 1,584 corona patients in a hospital.

In intensive care units, the number of Covid patients rose by 11, to a total of 179. This increase is the highest since February 8, when 12 people were added to this ward. There are now 1405 corona patients in the nursing wards, 15 fewer than Thursday.

In the past 24 hours, 180 new corona patients were brought into the nursing wards. There were 16 new recordings on the ICs.

Patients who are admitted for a reason other than corona, but who accidentally test positive for the virus, also count in the daily hospital figures. In its report, the LCPS makes no distinction between patients who have been admitted with or because of corona. RIVM director Jaap van Dissel said last week that at that time 80 percent were in hospital because of corona.
