In 2022, slightly more than 113,800 births were registered in our country for the time being. That is about 2,800 fewer births than in the period 2018-2021. On average, 116,639 births per year were counted. We therefore have a decrease of 2.4 percent, according to an initial overview of the number of births from Statbel, the Belgian statistics office. The regional differences are particularly striking.
