The downward trend in the number of Drenthes receiving unemployment benefits continues. At the end of July, 4,146 residents received unemployment benefits. That is 3.2 percent less than a month earlier and three percent less than last year, according to figures from the UWV benefits agency.
The largest decrease in the number of unemployment benefits can be seen in the construction and temporary employment sectors. There was a slight increase in education due to expiring annual contracts for the school holidays.
In Drenthe, the number of unemployment benefits is falling more than in the rest of the country. At the end of July, the number of benefits paid was 1.5 percent lower than one month previously. The decrease compared to last year was the same, three percent.
There are currently many opportunities for ICT professionals in Drenthe to find work. There are 250 vacancies, including for software developers and security specialists. The demand for ICT professionals is high throughout the country.
