Free sunbeds, extra water or more shaded areas: festivals are taking measures against the expected tropical heat this weekend. At festivals such as Best Kept Secret in Hilvarenbeek and Pussy Lounge in Best, the temperature can rise to no less than 31 degrees on Saturday.
At Best Kept Secret in Hilvarenbeek, the weather is closely monitored. “Extra first aid is being deployed, free sunscreen at all toilets, more free water points,” the spokesperson sums up. “We also communicate everywhere that people should drink enough.”
Sexy and hot is what hardstyle festival Pussy Lounge wants to radiate on Aquabest on Saturday. The latter should be possible with the high temperatures. That is why there are also extra water points and shaded areas. There is also a so-called ‘sunscreen bar’, the organization reports on the website. Bringing your own sunscreen is out of the question.
Festival Daisy in Tilburg has made a very happy choice. This year the event will move from the Spoorpark to the Leijpark in Tilburg. “There are a lot more trees there, so we’re lucky!” says Ben Williams of the organization cheerfully.
“We’re not made of sugar!”
The Saturday event with seven to eight thousand visitors has a mix of R&B, hip-hop, techno and house. “We are not made of sugar! And our visitors, who are on average 25 years old, know how to deal with alcohol and heat.” There too, extra water points, free sunscreen and more tents for shade.
Although high temperatures are expected, there is also a breeze that makes it feel a little less warm. The many trees in the Beekse Bergen also help during the three-day Best Kept Secret, which starts on Friday. The organization does advise you to bring enough sunscreen yourself. “Because you never know how much you need.”
“All stages are covered,” she adds. Only the main stage called ONE is completely outside. “There are also plenty of wooded places nearby or you can stand in the shade at the bar.”
From Friday the temperature can rise to a tropical 30 or regional 31 degrees. Saturday is expected to be the hottest day. The nights can also get sticky and warm. “After the weekend, the uncertainty in the expectation increases sharply. There are also small chances for maxima around 30 degrees for the beginning of next week, but maxima below 25 degrees are also possible,” Weerplaza reports.
