At the end of Couture Week, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris welcomed the organizers of the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories from Hyères to present the jury members who will officiate during the festival, which runs from Thursday 12th to Sunday 12th October 15, 2023.
The evening also offered the opportunity to exhibit works by the designers selected for this international competition. The competition is supported by the renowned fashion houses Chanel and Hermès, among others. Despite this luxurious partnership, Jean Pierre Blanc, General Director of the Hyères Festival, recalled that after 38 years it is still necessary to fight to organize such an event and denounced the fact that 70% of the institutional budgets for the Ile de France are reserved. When a prestigious event like the Festival de Hyères is struggling for funding, it’s hard to imagine the financial plight other fashion events outside the Paris region must be in.
Emphasizing Marie Laure de Noailles’ (whose villa celebrates its 100th anniversary this year) fondness for youth, Jean-Pierre Blanc introduced the presidents of the jury, chosen for their fresh commitment to fashion or photography, among other things .
The juries
Charles de Vilmorin, who heads his Laebl of the same name as well as the fashion house Rochas as creative director, heads the jury of the fashion competition. He is supported by Babeth Djian (Numéro Magazine), Daphné Burki (TV presenter), Flora Fischbach (musician), Sophie Fontanel (author and influencer), Jenny HyTONEN (Grand Jury Prize Premiere Vision 2022), Alice Moitié (photographer/ director), Billal Assani (musician), Pierre de Maere (musician), Hubert Barrère (Maison Lesage) and Antoine Gagey (Jean-Paul Gaultier).
Alan Crocetti is the President of the 38th Hyères Festival Accessories Contest
Jewelery designer Alan Crocetti will chair the jury of the accessories competition. He will be joined by Maria Bernad (Les Fleurs Studio), Amanda Sanchez (House Model Chanel), Beka Gvishiani (stylenotcom), Laura Vandall (Stylist), Tyrone Dylan (Muse Rick Owens), Serhat Isik (GmbH and Trussardi), Mauricio Stein (Maustein ), Nono Vazquez ( Icon) and Joshua Cannone (Grand Prix of the Hyères Accessories Jury 2022).
Luis Alberto Rodriguez, a previous winner of the photography competition, will chair the jury for this section.
The guests of the presentation evening had access to a presentation with works by the nominated designers. The return of the participants from Asia, after having stayed away from the competition in recent years due to the pandemic, was positive.

Tiago Bessa (Portugal), Alec Rhys Bizby (England), Fengyuan Dai (France), Igor Dieryck (Belgium), Petra Fagerstrom (Sweden), Leevi Ikäheimo (Finland), Jung Eun Lee (South Korea), Norman Mabire-Larguier (France ), Bo Kwon Min (South Korea) and Marc Sanz Pey (Spain) are the lucky nominees.
The Grand Prix du Jury Première Vision is endowed with a creative grant of 20,000 euros awarded by Première Vision and an exhibition space at the fair in Paris in February 2024; a project to collaborate with the Métiers d’art of 20,000 euros; the creation of a capsule collection that embodies Galeries Lafayette’s values of inclusivity and access to creativity; dedicated support from L’Alliance du Lin et du Hanf Européen, Icicle, Madame Figaro and, more recently, Sterling International, a recruitment consultancy specializing in the fashion, retail and luxury sectors.

The grand jury’s prize in the category of accessories is endowed with prize money of 20,000 euros for a project to collaborate with the French métiers d’art. The Hermès Prize for fashion accessories is endowed with a grant of 20,000 euros.
All of these young designers will be in the spotlight for almost nine months. But most of those who have invested the time and money to take part in this competition (there is talk of thousands of euros for a collection) will go home empty-handed and not knowing how to proceed. How can you continue to support them and other young talents after the competition? One suggestion would be attending a trade show to meet people from the industry who you can hire (not all have the desire to develop their own brands).
