Ralf Fährmann has experienced many ups and downs at his FC Schalke 04. The fact that the goalkeeper is still sitting on the bench after recovering from his injury is completely incomprehensible to his advisor Stefan Backs.
At FC Schalke 04 there is no rest. After the botched start of the season, head coach Thomas Reis also has to moderate an imminent problem in the goalkeeper position.
Because: Reis had only put S04 veteran Ralf Fährmann on the bench despite his recovery in the past second division games, while Marius Müller, who was actually number two, was allowed to keep his place between the posts. This decision has now met with great criticism from Fährmann’s advisor Stefan Backs.
“This is how a Schalke legend is destroyed”
“The club has made the mistake of changing goalkeepers on several occasions, including two years ago when Martin Fraisl played. And I think Ralf showed in the last Bundesliga season that he’s a lot better. Ralf was one of the best Bundesliga goalkeepers recently,” Backs emphasized to “Sport Bild”.
What annoys the player’s agent is above all the lack of communication between the coaching staff and the player: “It is unacceptable and incomprehensible that you are now making a change again – without communicating it properly with Ralf. This is how a Schalke legend is destroyed .”
Backs also alluded to the criticism that Fährmann had to take from the club management last year. The goalkeeper had been internally accused of eating too much cake in the dressing room. “To be honest, I don’t know why Ralf stopped eating cake because of this,” said the consultant.
It is clear that Marius Müller, who was signed by FC Luzern in the summer, had performed well at the start of the season – despite FC Schalke 04’s three defeats in four games. Next Saturday (1:00 p.m.) Schalke 04 have their next second division game at SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
