This weekend travelers who want to travel to and from Texel will again have to deal with waiting times. The Texelstroom ferry, which previously had problems, will be taken out of service again for more work. Ferry service Teso warns of long waiting times.
From Friday 28 October to Monday 31 October the ferry will remain inside. Ferry service Teso expects the greatest chance of delay on Friday and Monday. The Texelstroom was also taken out of service last month due to a malfunction. Then he lay still for almost four weeks. Just before the start of the autumn holidays, the ship could be put into service again.
Further work
So now there are problems again. Teso reports that during testing this week it became clear that further work is needed to make the modification carried out fully stable and reliable. “We assume that the problems will be solved after this weekend,” a spokesperson for the ferry service told NH Nieuws. “But it’s difficult to indicate.”
Teso says the wait time will depend on how the traveler reacts. “At first the traveler did not adapt to the new situation, which led to waiting times. Then there was a better spread, which reduced the waiting time.” The organization informs the guests staying on the island through local companies and the tourist office.
The waiting time can be long, the spokesperson warns. “It is the end of the autumn holidays, so most of the waiting time will be on Texel. The delay can be from two to four hours.” The organization also saw such waiting times the last time the Texelstroom was taken out of service. “Then there was a line up to Den Burg and people had to wait three hours.”
