Ferrer succeeds Costa as Davis Cup Finals tournament director

David Ferrer has succeeded compatriot Albert Costa as tournament director of the Davis Cup Finals. The Spanish former number 3 in the world ended his active career three years ago. He won the Nations Cup three times with Spain.

“I’m very happy to be part of this project,” Ferrer said. “The Davis Cup is a unique competition. As a player, it is one of the tournaments you always want to play, because you know what this means. You play as a team and for your country. You spend a week with your teammates and the atmosphere is always incredible.”

Sixteen countries, including the Netherlands, will participate in the group stage of the Finals, which will be held from September 13-18 in Bologna, Glasgow, Hamburg and Valencia. The last eight will then play in Malaga from November 22 to 27.
