with videoMax Verstappen did not get further than a fourth time in the second free practice of the Monaco Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc set the fastest time, just like in the first practice earlier this afternoon. Ferrari’s Monegask was almost half a second faster than his Dutch rival.
The importance of a fast lap in Monaco is great, because overtaking on the narrow street circuit is particularly difficult. Before today it was already expected that Ferrari would come out on top and that turned out to be true in practice.
The two Ferraris set the fastest times during VT2. Leclerc was much faster with 1.12.656 than he was earlier in the day. Sergio Pérez managed to stay ahead of Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen in the battle for third place. Also during the first training, the Mexican was faster than the leader in the World Cup position.
Due to the narrow streets, the drivers had a lot of problems with the crowds and yellow flags for colleagues who had missed a corner. Daniel Ricciardo caused the biggest delay. The Australian from McLaren slid quite firmly into the wall and a red flag emerged.

Verstappen leads the World Cup standings with 110 points, 6 points more than Leclerc. The reigning world champion has won the last three Grands Prix and four races in total. Leclerc won the other two races.
The third free practice will take place on Saturday at 1:00 PM, with qualifying starting at 4:00 PM.
