Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz made Ferrari celebrate in Formula 1 and can hope for a top result at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Leclerc secured the best time in the tight qualifying in 1:17.166 minutes; he will start from first place on the grid in a Formula 1 race for the 22nd time in Sunday’s race at the altitude of Mexico City (9:00 p.m. CET). Leclerc had already taken pole last weekend in Austin, Texas.
Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz completes the front row. World champion Max Verstappen finished third in the Red Bull and can therefore hope to continue his hunt for records.
With his 16th win of the season, the Dutchman would improve his own Formula 1 record from last year – the World Championship races in Brazil, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi are still to follow. Teammate Sergio Perez starts the home race in fifth place.
Formula 1: Nico Hülkenberg makes it to Q2
Nico Hülkenberg will most likely remain without a podium finish in his 200th Grand Prix in the premier class.
In the defeated Haas, the German made it into the second qualifying section, but then Hülkenberg was finished in twelfth place. McLaren driver Lando Norris experienced a great disappointment when he failed in Q1 after a driving error.
