After the scandal generated by the spot that showed Fernando Burlando walking and greeting residents of the Los Hornos neighborhood of La Plata along with José Luis Auge, one of the members of the Los Horneros gang, who were convicted of the murder José Luis Cabezas, photographer of NEWS, the lawyer and candidate for Buenos Aires governor was forced to apologize and cancel the video, which was taken down.
“I am not God or the one to judge people, but I did go down from the networks, because it seemed logical to me, and above all because it could be interpreted as a provocation. It was a home video, based on certain principles that we have (in the campaign), one of them is austerity. I have a team that is not very professional, that perhaps does not evaluate, does not filter situations, because this was a situation to be filtered,” Burlando revealed responsibilities about his team.
“I do not cancel or judge, I am not going to play anyone because it does not correspond to me, because I do not consider myself the authority to do so. At some point I could not believe that this had happened, and once the situation was verified, what I did was delete that video. Regarding the opinion, everything they can say is not going to be a brake for me. What’s more, I think it’s a situation that strengthens me and motivates me to get ahead with another type of eye and controls, and well only apologize for what happened,” closed the pre-candidate for Buenos Aires governor in dialogue with TN.
Before, in an interview in “Modo Fontevecchia”, Burlando had assured that he did not know who accompanied him in the spots, “many people accompanied him”. “That case was many years ago, just as I visited that place I was also living in other settlements, that is the idea of this campaign, people of all kinds come, it is part of the Argentine reality, I am not the authority to cancel anyone , nor am I the one to judge, it is not my task ”, Burlando had said.
But he accommodated the speech after it was pointed out that José Luis Auge, whom he defended in the long trial that ended with the conviction of him and the other murderers of José Luis Cabezas, could not have not recognized him. Especially since he was hugging him. “It may be that it’s Auge, but I’m not hugging him, I think there was someone in the middle,” he defended himself, although the image leaves no room for doubt.
“If you see a photo of me 35 years ago (NdR: the crime was 26 years ago) and you see my face today surely if you knew me at that time and you see me walking on the street today you will not know me,” Burlando insisted. But the meeting would not have been accidental, with Auge working as a pointer for his former lawyer’s tour of Los Hornos. “I’m not hugging him, you’re wrong. Not him, there’s a person in the middle, you want to cancel people,” he replied to the NEWS journalist, Juan Luis González.
