The audios broadcast this week by ‘El País’ reflect that Fernández Díaz would have received at the Ministry of the Interior several times between 2012 and 2016 both the then commissioner and the deputy director of operations (DAO) of the time, Eugenio Pino, to orchestrate the so-called ‘Operation Catalonia’.

Fernandez Diaz could face a judicial investigation for giving false testimony in the commission developed in the Congress of Deputies on ‘Operation Kitchen’, where he said that he had never dispatched with José Manuel Villarejo, something that would come to contradict said audios, although the investigations would escape the reach of the National Court -which investigates to the commissioner – because they would be the responsibility of an ordinary court.
