Fernand Huts throws the design with a glass tower at the Antwerp Boerentoren in the trash bin: “Culture will still be the most important interpretation”

Antwerp and half of Flanders screamed bloody murder about a year and a half ago, when Katoen Natie boss Fernand Huts presented his new Boerentoren in Antwerp. The design by the world-renowned architect Libeskind was called a ‘rape’ of Antwerp’s heritage. Huts is now also responding. According to him, Libeskind’s design has been in the trash for a long time. “But for fire safety, something will have to be added to get visitors to the panoramic platform.”
