Fenerbahce before the transfer of João Pedro – Galatasaray are empty

Galatasaray gets nothing

Galatasaray Istanbul apparently draws the short straw again. According to information from “Sky” in Italy, the Italian international João Pedro (30) has decided to transfer to Fenerbahce Istanbul. The attacker from relegated Cagliari Calcio is said to cost 6.5 million euros in transfer fee plus bonuses and will receive a three-year contract on the Bosphorus.

João Pedro would be Fenerbahce’s fifth new signing in attack and Galatasaray’s fourth rejection in a few weeks. Previously, the “Lions” failed to woo Eren Elmali (22) and Trezeguet (27), who joined champions Trabzonspor, and Gedson Fernandes (23), who signed for Besiktas.

Higher budgets in the Süper Lig cause movement on the transfer market

An increase in the budget limits has ensured that the Süper Lig clubs are much more active on the transfer market this summer. Gökhan Yagmur, Area Manager Turkey, says: “Clubs are allowed to invest a lot more this season. Fenerbahce’s budget limit rose from 48 million in 2021 to 75 million euros in 2022. At Galatasaray, the limit was even raised from 55 million to 85 million euros – financial fair play is virtually irrelevant this season. We expect an exciting transfer phase.”

It is important here that it is not a matter of transfer budgets, but of the entire budget, which is also used to finance the players’ salaries. The budget for Besiktas was increased from EUR 34.5 million to EUR 52.2 million compared to the previous season, and for the champions from Trabzon from EUR 26.6 million to EUR 48.2 million – the Turkish Football Association TFF announced these figures .
