Fenerbahçe Football Team defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 in a special match within the scope of the “Shakhtar Donetsk Global Tour”, which was launched to draw attention to and contribute to the theme of “Peace in Ukraine”.
Before the match played with the theme of “Football for Peace” at Ülker Stadium, the National Anthem of Ukraine was sung. A minute’s silence was also held for those who lost their lives in the war in Ukraine.
Burak Çağlan Kızılhan, Secretary General of Fenerbahçe Club, presented a plaque to Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergei Palkin in memory of the match.
The yellow-dark blue team played with 11 of Osman Ertuğrul Çetin, Nazım Sangare, Marcel Tisserand, Attila Szalai, Filip Novak, Luiz Gustavo, Jose Sosa, Burak Kapacak, Arda Güler, Enner Valencia and Mergim Berisha.
Shakhtar Donetsk’s starting 11 included Pyatov, Matviienko, Rakytskyi, Bondar, Konoplia, Stepanenko, Siheev, Mudryk, Bondarenko, Topalov and Solomon.
Enner Valencia scored Fenerbahce’s only goal in the match in the 26th minute.
Fenerbahçe’s young players Çağtay Kurukalıp, Ruhan Arda Aksoy, Isak Vural, Yusuf Kocatürk and Ali Arda Bulut served in the second half of the match.
Some Ukrainian football fans also followed the fight from the stands. 11,781 ticketed fans watched the match, whose income will be donated to people and children whose income was damaged by the war.
SZALAI IS INJURED
Hungarian defender Attila Szalai, who was injured in Fenerbahçe, could not continue the match.
Szalai remained on the ground with an injury in the 67th minute of the match. Çağtay Kurukalıp replaced Attila Szalai who was carried off the field on a stretcher.
ISAK VURAL WEAR A TEAM FOR THE FIRST TIME
Fenerbahçe’s 15-year-old football player, Isak Vural, wore the A team jersey for the first time.
Isak was substituted for Arda Güler in the 75th minute of the match. Arda Güler in 2021, Ömer Faruk Beyaz in 2020 and Recep Niyaz in 2012 played in the yellow-dark blue team at the age of 16.
On the other hand, after the match, the players of both teams toured the stands together and greeted the fans.
