Fendi is moving into the Metaverse. At the men’s FW22 show on Saturday, the Italian fashion house unveiled wallets made in partnership with crypto security firm Ledger.
Ledger is a pioneer of the Web 3.0 vision of the Internet and claims to be one of the safest providers of digital asset management. Ledger’s crypto wallets protect digital assets and at the same time serve as physical symbol carriers. The purses are thus a physical symbol of the value hidden on the digital level of the accessory. The new designs created by Fendi have taken this symbolism and protection to a new aesthetic level.
With the launch of the wallets, the Italian fashion house comes into contact with the Metaverse for the first time. Fendi describes the project with Ledger as an encounter that embraces the creative and collaborative values of the crypto community and offers a first glimpse of a future where digital collectibles coexist with tangible design objects.
For the joint collaboration, Fendi oriented itself to design classics such as the baguette bag. An aluminum version of the case has been reimagined as a sleeve for Ledger’s Nano X wallet. To do this, Fendi created a capsule-shaped 3D variant of the O’Lock chain design. The wallets have functional features such as adjustable hooks and cords that make it easy to carry the crypto storage securely.
The crypto wallets will be available in Fendi’s online shop from June 2022.
