Fendi opens its first flagship in China for its furniture line.
After the cities of Milan and Miami, the Italian luxury fashion house is now opening the first Chinese store of its ‘Fendi Casa’ line in Shanghai, Fendi announced on Wednesday. The location will be the central Jing’an district.
The brand presents a showroom of its furniture as well as home accessories and gift ideas on a sales area of over 750 square meters. The transparent facade of the building is intended to illuminate the items in daylight. The theme of Italian Arabescato Vagli marble runs throughout the interior.
The store features the ‘Peekasit’ and ‘Blow Up’ sofas from the design collective Controvento as well as a seating system from the Amsterdam studio Marcel Wanders. Bookshelves by the Italian Dimorestudio, beds and bedside tables by Chiara Andreatti and Fendi Casa Design Studio as well as tables and armchairs by Toan Nguyen and Dimorestudio and chairs by Cristina Celestino complete the furnishings.
The Peekasit armchair is also available in a special edition “Shanghai Journey” made from tonka velvet and a shearling cover inspired by Fendi’s ‘Pekaboo’ bag.
“Asia, especially China, has long been a preferred destination for the Fendi universe,” said Alberto Da Passano, founder of FF Design, the joint venture partner of Fendi Casa. “Opening the boutique in one of the most vibrant and avant-garde districts in Shanghai is both a challenge and an opportunity for us. Fendi Casa’s aim is to consolidate its international presence through a highly recognizable space that embodies not only the aesthetics, but also the values, history and spirit of the house.”
