Another triumphal blue foil in the World Cup. In Paris, for the men’s World Cup, heavy success in the team event. The Azzurri team made up of Olympic vice-champion Daniele Garozzo together with Alessio Foconi, fresh from yesterday’s third place in the individual test, Tommaso Marini and Guillaume Bianchi dominated France 45-20. The path of the Italian quartet, which started as seed number 5, began in the round of 16 with the victory against Poland 45-26, then the Azzurri overtook the Hong Kong quartet of the Olympic champion Ka Long Cheung with the score 45-24, thus reaching the semifinals, where they beat the US team 45-38. In the final, Italy challenged the French team that in Tokyo 2020 won the gold in five circles, in a one-way match. Winning on the platforms of the best was really a great feat.

After the splendid Saturday of the individual competition, which saw the triumph of Alice Volpi and the third place of Martina Favaretto, today the Italy of women’s foil in Poznan (Poland) concluded the team event in fifth place. The blue quartet made up of Alice Volpi, Martina Favaretto, Francesca Palumbo and Erica Cipressa had made their debut in fluency by beating Romania 45-26 in the round of 16. In the quarter-finals, however, the Italian team surrendered to the Polish team after an assault experienced on the edge of balance, point by point until the last seconds and resolved with the last decisive jabs by Julia Walczyk who set the score at 40 -37. The blue, who had climbed to the top step of the podium in the first team test of the season in Saint Maur, did not give up even in the assaults of the board from 5th to 8th place. After beating France 45-43, Italy finished fifth by beating China with a clear 45-31.

In the round of 32, 15-5 to the American Tartakovsky first, then 15-10 to the Hungarian Battai, 15-12 to the Japanese Ozaki and regret in the semifinals, lost 15-14 to the French Queroli.
