S.have been announced the names of the screenwriters and the titles of the finalist films of the new awards To the Feminine: the Ilaria Branca Prize of Romanesque, dedicated to screenwritersauthors of subjects that overcome the gender stereotypes often present in stories created by an exclusively male gaze, and the Humanitarian Society President Award, dedicated to films that put women at the center in their narrative.
For women, prizes designed and founded by women
The initiative was born from the collaboration of the President of the Humanitarian SocietyAlberto Jannuzzelli, with the creators of the awardsIlaria Branca di Romanico, who gives her name to the recognition of the new screenwriters, and Aimara Garlaschelli, who together have established a Founding committee of women onlyalso composed by Luisa Comencini, Silvia De Laude, Gaia Guarducci, Irene Magrelli, Jole Milanesi, Marzia Oggiano, Maria Pia Oliveri and Maria Elena Polidoro.

For the screenwriters it is time to develop the subject
The finalists of the Ilaria Branca di Romanico Award, selected by the organizers of the award and by a jury of readers coordinated byNational Union of Theater and Audiovisual InterpretersI am Gloria Allegrucci with the subject The selfish ones, Chiara Centioni with Now is in the hour, Maddalena Licciardi with Marilù and Anna, Alice Manzati with Tide And Giovanna Volpi with Surreal killer.
The Award offers them the opportunity to develop your subject with the help of a team of experts: the five finalists will in fact work on the treatment and drafting of the screenplay together with their reference editor, who will follow them over the course of three months. The team of editors includes Ivano Fachin, Irene Magrelli, Carlina Grassi, Tommaso Matano and Giovanni Galassi.
Will they be movies?
The screenplays awarded by Al Feminine and realized in this way will then be evaluated by a technical jury of professionals from the Italian art scene: Donatella Finocchiaro, actress; Alina Marazzi, director; Virginia Valsecchi, film producer, Luca Bigazzi, director of photography; Francesca Marciano, screenwriter; Consuelo Catucci, editor; Paola Bizzarri, set designer; Fabio Ferzetti, film critic; Emanuele Trevi, literary critic. Once they have completed their training, the screenwriters will then be able to meet potential producers to whom they can present their script in view of a possible future realization.
Five European films with women at the center
The five European films distributed in Italy in 2021 selected to compete for the President of the Humanitarian Society Award for the best screenplay In the Feminine they are France by Bruno Dumont, The worst person in the world by Joachim Trier, Petite Maman by Céline Sciamma, Quo Vadis Aida? by Jasmila Zbanic e A year with Salinger by Philippe Falardeau. The winning screenplay will be decided by a jury of experts composed of Paolo Mereghetti, Annarita Briganti, Paola Casella, Vittorio Lingiardi, Caterina Liverani, Marina Pierri and Valentina Torrini, who will announce the winner in September 2022.
The awards are sponsored by the Fondazione Cineteca Italiana of Milan, the University of Communication and Languages (IULM) of Milan, the National Union of Theater and Audiovisual Interpreters (UNITA), EWA (European Women’s Audiovisual Network) and Valore D (Associazione of companies that promote gender equality and an inclusive culture).
