The Madrid tennis tournament has admitted its mistake.

The organizers of the Madrid Open tennis tournament have apologized to players and fans for the way it treated players in the women’s doubles final Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauffia, Victoria Azarenka and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
After the final matches of the tournaments, the players usually get the opportunity to comment on their performance. However, for some reason, this was not the case in Madrid after the final match played last Saturday, which ended with the victory of Azarenka and Maia. Azarenka and Pegula expressed dismay at the new policy, with the Professional Tennis Association (PTPA) saying the players’ right to express themselves had been taken away.
A mistake that will not be repeated
At the beginning of the week, the organizers refused to comment on what happened to the BBC, but now a public apology has been presented by the tournament’s CEO by Gerard Tsobanian from the
Tsobanian says that an apology has also been given to the players personally.
– We are working internally and with the WTA (women’s tennis umbrella) to review our protocols and are committed to improving our processes in the future. We made a mistake and it will never happen again, the tennis director promises.
The Madrid tournament received questionable attention also because it hired models as “ball girls” for the top matches of the men’s series.
