Referee Felix Zwayer drew a positive conclusion after his comeback after a break of almost two months.
“It was nice and it was a lot of fun. I’m passionate about it, so it’s a nice feeling,” said Zwayer after the 2-2 draw between Hannover 96 and Darmstadt 98 on “Sky”.
The 40-year-old decided to take a break after public hostilities as a result of the top game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich (2: 3) at the beginning of December.
During this time he received help from numerous people and colleagues. He also received support “from the psychological area”. “These talks brought a lot. I was happy to accept the help,” said Zwayer.
The debate was triggered by BVB professional Jude Bellingham, who verbally attacked the referee after the Bayern game, referring to Zwayer’s involvement in the manipulation scandal surrounding his former colleague Robert Hoyzer. “Things happened that were extremely drastic. That also affected my private environment,” said Zwayer.
