Felix Zwayer returns to the pitch in Hanover

It has been clear since the middle of the week that Felix Zwayer will referee another game at the weekend. He has not been on the pitch since early December. Now it is clear where the referee will blow the whistle.

After the Bundesliga top game between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich (2: 3), Felix Zwayer did not referee a game. His appearance in the top game was criticized especially by Dortmund. After that he decided to take a break, even the end of his career seemed conceivable.

Now the 40-year-old is returning to the field. On Sunday afternoon he will referee the second division game between Hannover 96 and SV Darmstadt 98. His assistants are Marco Achmüller and Konrad Oldhafer. This was confirmed by the DFB.

Zwayer will referee his third second division game of the current season. Both previous games ended in a draw: He officiated Hamburger SV’s 2-2 draw against 1. FC Nürnberg and the 1-1 draw between Werder Bremen and FC St. Pauli. Today in Hanover all eyes will be on the referee.
