Felix Nmecha is also allowed to play for Germany

After his brother Lukas, Felix Nmecha from Wolfsburg can now also play for Germany. FIFA has approved the change of association from England to Germany, the US news agency “AP” reported.

Born in Hamburg, whose family emigrated to England in 2007, he has already appeared three times for the German U18 team. After that, the ex-Manchester City professional opted for England, where he played seven games for the U18s and U19s. Now he wants to appear for the DFB selection.

“We would be happy if Felix could play for Germany in the future and we will do everything we can for that,” DFB youth boss Joti Chatzialexiou confirmed to “Bild” in early January.

The dressing change was requested. Before Christmas, U21 national coach Antonio Di Salvo had contacted Wolfsburg’s midfielder and tried to persuade him to move to Germany.

The DFB officials hope that Felix Nmecha will be able to play for the U21 team for the first time in the next European Championship qualifier at the end of March against Latvia.

In 2019, former U21 coach Stefan Kuntz guided England’s junior international Lukas Nmecha to the DFB. The striker became European champion with the U21s last summer. In mid-November, national coach Hansi Flick made him a senior national player.
